ADI Cast Iron

Materials Cast iron

ADI – Austempered Ductile Iron

The meaning ADI hides a group of materials that is distinguished by an unusually favorable combination of strength, toughness and abrasion resistance.

Castings up to 6,000 kg with a maximum size of 1840 x 1840 x 1500 mm (oven size) can be treated fully automatically with the ADI properties.

THE PROPERTIES OF ADI/CONCLUSIONS

Excellent possibilities – opening up new perspectives to all designers. The correct material selection will result in:

  • High strength levels
  • Concurrent ductility
  • High fatigue resistance
  • High durability
  • Improved sound dampening
  • Greater freedom of design
  • Accuracy when machining to final dimensions
  • Lower prices than normal ductile and case-hardened steel with similar and better properties!

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

  • high values for static and dynamic strengh
  • Ductility
  • High hardening
  • Low notch sensitivity
  • High fatigue resistance due to cold work-hardening
  • Choice of geonetrical design forms
  • Good sound dampening properties
  • Good machinability
